Recommended Cleaning Guide
1. Preparation Gather your supplies: several gallons of clean water, a soft natural-bristle brush (no stiff or colored bristles), clean soft cloths, and a small amount of pH-neutral, non-ionic soap (e.g., a few drops of unscented dish soap per gallon of water).
2. Pre-Rinse Gently rinse the entire headstone with clean water to remove loose dirt and debris.
3. Gentle Cleaning Dip your soft brush into the soapy water and clean the stone using gentle, circular motions. Start from the bottom and work your way up to prevent streaking. Use extra care and a smaller brush for the detailed statue.
4. Removing Growth For light moss or algae, use the soft brush to gently lift it away. For persistent biological growth, use a dedicated stone-safe biocide. Always test it on a small, hidden area (like the back of the base) first and follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
5. Thorough Rinsing Rinse the headstone completely with plenty of clean water until all soap and debris are gone. Rinsing from the top down is most effective.
6. Air Dry Allow the monument to air dry naturally. Do not attempt to speed up the process with heat.
7. Regular Care Inspect the headstone periodically.
A light cleaning once a year is usually sufficient to prevent heavy buildup.
