Product description

Stone Information

Granite SPI (Alpalhão Grey) is a Portuguese granite with a uniform grey hue and a very fine, almost imperceptible grain. The tone is calm and contemporary, reading cleanly on large surfaces and delivering discreet sparkle under raking light. Its high compressive strength and abrasion resistance make it suitable for public spaces and heavy-traffic areas. Dimensional stability supports tight tolerances and accurate installation in modular layouts.

Finishes
Standard finishes include polished (high gloss), honed (smooth matte), flamed (crystalline slip-resistant texture) and bush-hammered (granular anti-slip). Other finishes are available on request with project-specific samples. Finish selection can be tuned to slip-resistance targets and maintenance regimes for each use case.

Quarry Information

Own quarry in Alpalhão, Portalegre, Portugal, with continuous extraction. Bench mining with controlled blasting and diamond-wire cutting ensures stable yield, colour and grain. Primary selection at source reduces natural defects and supports consistent lots for large projects.

Stock Information

Regular output of rough blocks and slabs, with working stock maintained. Blocks are graded primarily by integrity and shade (Grade A/B). Typical block dimensions range from approx. 2.0–3.0 m in length, 1.2–1.8 m in height and 1.2–1.6 m in width (indicative; full list available on request). Slabs are produced to project thicknesses; common thicknesses are 20 / 30 mm for interior use and 40 / 50+ mm for exterior/structural applications. Container readiness is supported: blocks and packages can be trimmed or packed to optimise 20’/40’ containers; break-bulk options are also available where appropriate. Pre-shipment photo/video inspection and shade confirmation can be provided.

Packing Details

Blocks: steel strapping to heavy-duty cribbing, hardwood chocks/wedges and anti-slip dunnage; corner protection as needed.
Slabs: A-frames or sea-freight racks with cross-bracing; PE-foam separators; steel strapping; heat-treated timber (ISPM-15) where required. Each package is labelled with block/slab ID, size, thickness, finish, net/gross weight, project reference and handling symbols.

Usage Informations

Exterior: public realm paving, plazas, steps and kerbs; cladding and street furniture. Interior: flooring, wall cladding, staircases, reception counters and bespoke elements. For exterior horizontal applications, flamed or bush-hammered finishes are recommended to achieve the specified slip-resistance. For interior circulation, honed should be paired with a maintenance plan suited to traffic class. The stone’s dimensional control supports tight-joint modular grids and heavy-duty traffic categories when thickness and bedding are correctly specified.

Other

Technical Support
We assist architects, engineers and contractors with thickness selection, module and joint design, finish choice and slip-resistance targets. On request, we provide typical build-ups, laying patterns and reference projects. Quarry visits can be scheduled for material approval. Samples (cut pieces and finish panels) are available; mock-ups can be prepared for on-site evaluation. Quality control includes shade control by lot, dimensional checks and visual inspection before packing, with a photo/video report available.

Sustainability & Compliance
The quarry operates under Portuguese and EU regulations. Water is recirculated in a closed loop in processing; waste is managed under licensed procedures. CE marking and the Declaration of Performance are available for the relevant product categories. Additional test data can be supplied where applicable.

Contact
Please share project scope (application, areas, thickness, finish, preferred modules and delivery terms). We will propose available blocks/lots, packing plan and shipment schedule tailored to your site constraints.
