Stone Information

Crema Marfil is a calcareous stone extracted in the mining areas of West Alicante province and North of Murcia province. The material has a creamy background tone of colour, that can vary form light       tone (scarce) to medium tone. Crema Marfil presents calcium veins of soft brown or orangish colour.

The classification (and also its capacity of being supplied and its price) depends on the homogeneity of the tone of colour, the amount of veins and the presence of mineral intrussions.

Crema Marfil is cut into slabs of 240-270 cm length, 140-165 cm height. Crema Marfil is produced in slabs 2 & 3 cm thick (big thicknesses are difficult to produce) for transformacion in stairs, cut to size pieces, bathroom sinks...,

Tiles in standard sizes: 60x60x2 cm, 60x40x2 cm, 60x30x2 cm, 40x30x2 cm. In other shapes are the tiles 45,7x45,7x1,5 cm (18x18”), 40x40x1,5 cm (16"x16"), 61x30,5x1 cm (24"x12") and 30,5x30,5x1 cm (12x12”) , polished and beveled.

POLISHED FINISH

Crema Marfil is mainly used in polished finish, with a process in which the stone takes the shining like a mirror. It is important to know the system of manufacturing (if it is made with polystyrene or epoxylic resins or only made with mastic) to be sure that the final appearance will be perfect.

HONED FINISH

The honed finish (matt finish) is used to provide a warmer ambience, not so cold (and luxurious) like the polished one. Honed finish made softer the veining and color changes.

BRUSHED FINISH

Crema Marfil in Brushed finish provides an rustic (antique) appearance, the abrasives used on the surface “eat” the weak parts (the veining) and the stone becomes as if the time had passed by. It is used for outdoor areas or for bathrooms or kitchens.

Other finishes, such as sandblasted, or split are less used.

Stock Information

There are continuous stock of Crema Marfil in slab format.

Random slabs 2 or 3 cm are the main product for distribution, to be fitted in cut to size, stairs, countertops.

All slabs are reinforced on the back with polyester resin and a mesh and treated on the face with polyester/epoxy resin

Depending on the company can be bought by full blocks (into slabs) or by bundles (may be all same block or different block)

Companies that work with us classify the Slabs in different ranges, depending on the homogeneity of the material. Please note that classification changes in each firm (is subjective).

It is important to remark that ranges are only a classification by aspect & homogeneity. Quality of manufacturing is the same in all grades

Packing Details

Slabs are packed into export wooden bundles or in A-frames & chains for loading by truck.
